Start with page count and order
The generated PDF is reopened to check its page count. Compare first, middle and last pages with the reader preview and confirm that the selected range matches your intended chapter.
Check search separately
Search for a visible phrase known to exist in the original OCR. If text-layer limits were reported, use the UTF-8 sidecar for extraction or run a separate OCR workflow on the final PDF.
Keep the source book
PDF conversion changes compression and navigation structure. Retain the original DjVu for future conversions or archival use, especially if annotations or unusual codecs matter.
Use a repeatable export check
Suppose you select 3-5,9 from a book. The output should contain four pages in that sequence. Compare the first and last preview with the corresponding source pages, then open the downloaded PDF in another viewer. A wrong printed page number is not automatically a conversion error: ranges use physical document positions, including covers and unnumbered front matter.
Zoom into small characters, a photograph and a page edge. The export uses decoded page images, so text remains visually raster content even when an invisible search layer is present. A larger PDF file is not evidence of greater detail; compression changes can increase size without improving a scan that was already low resolution.
Open the PDF's bookmark panel when the source contains navigation. Only internal destinations that refer to selected pages can become output bookmarks. Nested headings are represented as flat entries with indented labels. The source-bookmarks JSON preserves the original navigation information for inspection; it does not promise that every external destination becomes a working PDF link.
For printing, compare the page dimensions reported by your viewer with a known source scan or expected paper size. The export uses the scan's declared resolution where usable. A wrong original DPI value can therefore produce an unexpected physical size. Adjust print scaling deliberately and keep a small test print before committing an entire volume.
